With a professional graphic artist in the club who'd volunteered his services, the committee were happy to put Les in charge of coming up with a suitable logo for the event. Within a few days, Les had about a dozen suggestions for us to pick from (see below).
The committee had come up with the general idea of a race car, number 13 as the central theme, but after that it was left to Les to come up with whatever he thought would work. And everyone who's seen the finished product agrees, it's a fantastic logo. The one we decided to go with Obviously, the racing car is the focal point in this design (and in fact all of them. It's interesting to note that it survived almost unchanged from the very first prototype). But it won out over the others with its flag or pennant shape, which is also reminiscient of the shape of the Gnoo Blas track itself, which is more or less a triangle of three roads.
Les also produced a variety of other ideas for us to choose from. We loved all of them, and for a while the committee were a bit divided over which one would be the official one. Here are the rest of them for you...
