The 18th FE-FC Holden Nationals
The FE FC Holden Car Club of Victoria Inc has the privilege of hosting the 2020 Nationals and confidently expect it draw FE FC Holden enthusiasts and spectators from all over Australia to the event. The purpose of the Nationals is to celebrate these iconic cars which were produced in Australia between 1956 and 1960 by General Motors Holden and were very popular to the point of holding an historic 50% market share in 1958.
This event is held every two years in a different state and hosted by the state FE FC Holden Car Club. The current Club committee have attended many Nationals over the years and are well experienced in the expectations of those attending, some having been involved when the Victorian club hosted the 2006 Nationals at Philip Island.
Up to 150 cars and their owners, families and friends, we estimate in the range of 300 people, will gather for a four day event over Easter 2020, 10th – 13th April. Past events have shown that many of those attending take the opportunity to extend their stay for up to a week either side of this time and have a holiday in the area.
Club members and committee were canvassed for suggestions for a suitable location and Wangaratta came top of the list and plans are now underway to hold the event in Wangaratta and the surrounding area with the city of Wangaratta being the headquarters and base for most of the activities
The format of the event will offer opportunities for visitors to stay and play by taking part in –
- an optional cruise (car run) around the local area on Friday
- the traditional ‘fish and chip’ dinner on Friday evening
- the ‘Show ‘n Shine’, where the cars are judged and admired, followed by the dinner dance on Saturday
- a cruise to a park / reserve for lunch and the ‘Car Olympics’ on Sunday
- Presentation Dinner, where the highly anticipated results of Saturday’s judging are announced, on Sunday
- a special optional event on Monday for those staying a bit longer.
