Diff for FC

I have a V6 with Turbo 700 box coupled to a 3.08 diff in a HR rear end. I am still running 13 inch wheels. Does anyone have any recommendations as to what diff ratio I should be running. Thanks Col

Col,
A 3:08 ratio or a 2:78 would be fine for cruising, if you are going to jump on the go pedal, the diffs will break. The ratios stated will return good fuel economy but will not give you good acceleration. If you are after better acceleration, then go for a 3:36 or 3:55. Again, lean on them too hard and they will fail. It will all depend on your driving style.
If you experience breakages then a narrowed commodore diff or other Borg Warner diff that will fit without having to be shortened would be a better option, a 9" a better option still.

Thanks Keith, I was thinking a nine inch was the way to go but wasnt sure if the 3.08 would take the stress. Now I know which way to go. Cheers Col

I remeber seeing the commodore ute at summernats punching over 1000hp at the rear running borg warner.
You would have to be really pushing it hard to break a borg warner and i dont think a V6 auto would do it.
I remeber holding my nissan RB30 bouncing off the rev limiter and dumping it and i could not break my old Centura diff in my FC it went through all my P plater days yeah it was a bit back lashy at the end but it copped a thrashing and still lives.
